First Aid (Module 10 East Grinstead)

This course covers the requirements for Module 10 (Adults) and Module K (Young Leaders)of the training scheme and also those needing to renew their Scouting First Aid qualification.
Topics covered include;
Principles of first aid and initial response (arriving and managing an incident)
Initial response to a first aid situation
Management of an unconscious casualty (child or adult)
CPR, including technique for children and an explanation of what AED is and how to use it
Causes and treatment of unconsciousness
Heat exhaustion, heatstroke, dehydration and hypothermia
Burns and scalds
Fractures (ambulance imminent and non-imminent) and soft tissue injuries
Minor injuries (for example cuts, grazes and nose bleeds)
Anaphylaxis (use of Epi pen)
Note: We have a training AED so you can have a go at using one
Dress code: Old clothing which may get dirty, warm and comfortable
Preparation: none required
Refreshments: Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
Lunch: Provided, so please advise of any special dietary needs by email to firstname.lastname@example.org at least 2 weeks before the course date
