The Great Indoors Badge – Explorers

The Great Indoors Badge is not just about learning new skills, this is about bringing out what is already inside you! The different stages allow you to share what you’ve learnt and find a way to support your community. Scouts has been going since 1907 because we’ve learnt to adapt to all that happens around us. This is our first ever opportunity to share the Scouts experience wider than we ever have, as we invite all our Scouts and our non-Scout friends, to join in activities from

#ShowYourPride

Whilst Prides up and down the country have had to be postponed, including local ones in West Sussex, we’ve decided that we will instead bring West Sussex Scouts Pride… ONLINE!

A month long celebration of all things Inclusion & Diversity, which will include online webinars, #ShowYourPride competition and more.

Information will be coming out throughout the coming weeks but I’m excited to be launching the sign up for our online webinars, starting next month. Every week will be a different theme and we hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join. They will be hosted by myself, alongside other guests, and will happen via zoom. These sessions are also open to any young leaders who wish to join, so please pass around the information.

The webinars will only be an hour long, will include a Q&A session and to allow for all questions to be answered, will be limited to around 30-60 participants.

Sessions being run:

Wed 17th Jun – “Creating an inclusive environment in my Scout group” (plus launch of “Show Your Pride”)

Tips & hints around how you can make your weekly sessions, camps and Scouting events as inclusive as possible.

Wed 24th Jun – “Promoting Positive Behaviour” (very short/abridged version)

A shortened version of the highly popular “Promoting Positive Behaviour” that has previously been delivered around the county.

Thurs 2nd July – “L to + of LGBT+ in Scouting”

Exploring in more depth how LGBT+ fits into Scouting and our role in supporting a young person as a leader.

Thurs 9th July – “Coming out in Scouting – Voices from Scouting”

Panel discussion from an array of Scouters who have either come out whilst in Scouting or had a young person who has.
