First Aid (Module 10) in Crawley

This First Aid course covers the requirements for Module 10 and those needing to refresh their First Aid, Mandatory Ongoing Learning. Topics covered includes;
- The principles of first aid and initial response (arriving at and managing an incident)
- Emergency life support (DRABC, and the recovery position)
- CPR, including technique for children
- Bleeding (major and minor)
- Causes and treatment of unconsciousness
- Heat exhaustion, heat-stroke, dehydration and hypothermia
- Burns and scalds
- Fractures and soft tissue injuries
- Minor injuries (for example, cuts, grazes and nosebleeds)
Please note; only those people involved in Scouting are eligible to attend.
The course is practical, with participants taking turn to react as first aiders, dealing with casualties in Scout-like scenarios inside and out. The course is suitable for Young Leaders, and must be booked via the District Explorer Scout Leader for Young Leaders.
Dress code: non-uniform, warm comfortable activity clothing.
Preparation: none required, although please bring your scouting first aid manual if your are refreshing learning. Take care with location, check the map, the hut is in Tilgate not Southgate.
Refreshments: drinks and snacks will be provided. Please advise if you have allergies that may be relevant.
Lunch: bring your own lunch.

Groups who have Adults booking on a course and the Adult does not attend, it is now County and District policy that the Group is required to pay a fee of £10 per person.
