Skills for Residential Experiences (Modules 16/38) – To provide adults with the appropriate skills to plan and run successful residential experiences for the young people in their section
- The planning process – youth training badges, activities, games, budgeting, flexibility …
- Elements of effective administration – site, food, transport, record keeping …
- Choosing and preparing a team – supervising/running activities, first aid, cooking …
- Choosing, using and maintaining the right equipment – tents, burners, lighting …
- Practical skills – knots, tent pitching, pioneering, knife -saw-axe, cooking, campfires …
- Health, happiness and safety issues – emergency/accident procedures, risk assessments, safeguarding …
- Catering requirements – dietary, allergies, cultural, storage of food, budgeting, water …
- Evaluating venues – type of event, time of year, ages involved, facilities at venue …
Dress code: Any weather appropriate clothing for activities
Refreshments: food will be provided so please advise the organisers of any special dietary needs.
It will be possible for course candidates to stay on site overnight, preferrably in their own tents but if that is not possible we will be able to supply tent accomodation.

Cost of the course will be met by West Sussex training team, however, a fee will be charged for not turning up without at least a weeks notice.
